Tricycles and the TAGA, a comparison between riding a normal bike, a tricycle and the TAGA.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to ride the TAGA, is it the same or different from a two-wheeler?

Probably not, but in any case it will be useful for you to read this article.

TAGA BIKE is a tricycle, and riding a tricycle is different from riding a two-wheeler.

Normal bicycles are by their very nature unstable. The cyclist has to gain speed to keep his balance. To turn, then, the cyclist must lean with the bike to counteract the centrifugal force.

In contrast, tricycles are inherently stable, whether stationary or at low or medium speed. Relative to TAGA, this gives you several advantages,

Carrying children on a TAGA is much safer than on a normal bike, not least because of its stability;

you don't have to know how to ride a bike to ride TAGA;

grandparents can drive their grandchildren around in TAGA without having to worry about making it;

you can choose the speed best suited to the situation without having to think about maintaining balance;

you can stop, and even get out of the TAGA, it stays up with your child.

Unlike the TAGA, tricycles have one wheel at the front and two at the back. The main weight of a tricycle is at the rear and is towed. When turning at high speed, these tricycles are subject to centrifugal force and in the absence of careful driving could tip over. Since the tricycle cannot tip over, the driver must slow down before turning and lean his or her body into the turn to counteract the centrifugal force.

In Forte dei Marmi we saw a rental with tricycles on which a chair for children was hooked behind, a bizarre means of transporting children as it is a DIY construction and not at all homologated. It's really strange that the police don't fine them.

Even the look of a tricycle is anything but cool. That can't be said about TAGA, winner of several design awards (besides being named the best product for children and having won several very important functional awards, such as the one at Eurobike) TAGA is exhibited in one of the most interesting museums dedicated to contemporary art and design. Unlike a classic tricycle, TAGA has two wheels at the front and one at the rear. Taga's steering was designed by professional bike and tricycle engineers, who took into account a multitude of factors to ensure the safest and best ride possible. Factors such as the tricycle's steering geometry based on Ackerman's law, optimised wheel track, optimised centre of gravity and others. As a result, the steering is incredibly light and easy to manoeuvre.

Many people, trying the TAGA for the first time, are amazed by the lightness and immediate response of the steering. And also by the lightness of the vehicle and the ease of driving.

However, some people, including myself, who are used to riding a bicycle, find the way of riding the TAGA a bit unusual at first, the feeling that it passes within half an hour and then you don't understand how you got it. For this reason, at the beginning, it is advisable to ride the TAGA in a place free of traffic, in fairly wide spaces, and to slow down before making the turns. When riding in TAGA for the first time, it is important to follow two rules: don't take your feet off the pedals when you stop and slow down and don't lean your body into turns.

The things we usually do automatically on the two-wheeler.

It must be said that not all people experience an unusual sensation, in fact, it will be about 20%, almost all of them being women. The sensation, however, disappears after half an hour of driving.

Once you become familiar with the TAGA, you can no longer tell the difference between it and the normal bike apart from stability and extreme safety. Find out more!

In May this year we took part with our baby, who was 16 months old at the time, in Cyclopride Milano, the longest group ride in Italy, with 3-4 climbs and several bends. Instead of slowing down on the bends, we went at full speed without feeling any difference from the normal bike other than the ease of riding even on the climbs.

The little one had fallen asleep during the course (I lowered his seat to allow him to sleep better), waking up on arrival just to collect all the compliments.

It's hard to imagine another means of taking children by bike!

An informed choice starts with the right questions.
