Safe cycling for children
Safe cycling for children
It's as simple as riding a bike, the saying goes! But is it really that simple to ride a bike? Many of us learnt it as children and have not thought about it since!
The problem arises, and thankfully so, when we have to carry our children by bike. Having the most precious cargo there is, it is good to think about how to transport children safely by bike.
First and foremost, the helmet. Better if the adult wears it as well as the child. Helmets have been talked about and talked about again, all the while a British study proved that 80% head injuries could be avoided by wearing a helmet. Of course it will never happen to us, yet the 80%!
I think few will disagree that in order to transport children safely on a bicycle, it is essential to comply with the highway code. Yet two children on a two-wheeled bicycle is a frequent occurrence on the roads. Despite the fact that it is both forbidden by the highway code and very dangerous!
How then should a family with two, or even more, children do it? Precisely in order to transport two or more (for up to four children) safely on a bicycle, a special bike is needed, so-called family bikes or more commonly known as cargo bikes. The latter are built, if for nothing else, to carry weight safely. Of these, one in particular, the legendary TAGA BIKE, was designed completely from scratch (and not simply adapted) to transport children safely on a bicycle.
Born out of a real need and accompanied by the genius of the family that invented it, it gave birth to to the world's best bicycle for safe child transport!
